PTO FAQ

What does "accrue" mean?

Accrue means "to earn". When referring to PTO, it means you earn hours.

How does Paid time off (pto) work?

  • You begin accruing (earning)  Paid Time Off on your very first payroll.
  • You earn 1.54 hours during service years 0-2. This means, every time you are paid during your first 24 months, 1.54 hours are put into your "PTO Bank".  That equals 40 hours per year!
  • After completing 2 years of service, you begin accruing 3.08 hours per paycheck! This rate equals 80 hours per year!!!
  • During years 1 & 2, you may roll-over up to a max of 40 unused PTO hours to the next anniversary year. After 2 years, you can roll over a max of 80 hours. A no time can you have more than 160 hours available. (see employee handbook for more information)
  • Hourly employees may still choose to cash out unused PTO. If you do not cash out your PTO before your anniversary date, it will automatically roll over to the next year. ***
  • Your paystub will show you how much PTO you have accrued(earned), the PTO you have taken, and the amount that is available to you. (PTO accrued - PTO taken = PTO available)
  • If your employement ends, you will be paid your available PTO hours on your last paycheck contengient on all company property being returned.
***The roll-over option for non-exempt (hourly) employees became effective June 9, 2023 so roll-over amounts can be applied if your anniversary falls on or after that date. THIS SECTION EXPLAINS HOW THE NEW PTO PLAN WORKS ("PAID TIME OFF" PLAN EFF. OCT 2022). IF YOU ARE STILL ON THE OLD PLAN ("VACATION LUMP SUM") PLAN, PLEASE CONTACT HR AND WE CAN EXPLAIN THE OLD PLAN TO YOU.

How do i request pto?

  • We encourage you to take your available PTO! Scheduling time off in advance allows management to make the necessary staffing arrangements. If more than one person requests PTO for the same dates and the company would not have adequate staff for business, the first person submitting the Time Off Request will be approved. Management reserves the right to not approve time off requests in order to keep the business properly staffed.
  • If using PTO for a planned appointment, event, or vacation, a request should be submitted using the "Request Time Off" feature in Netchex at least 14 days in advance.
  • If using PTO for sick leave, a request should be submitted using the "Request Time Off" feature in Netchex within one business day of returning to work. Otherwise, the sick leave will be unpaid.
  • Time off request should be submitted before 8am on Monday mornings for the previous week. If a request has not been submitted in Netchex by this time, you will not be paid for the PTO.
